Full Restoration Services

Restoration involves disassembly, cleaning and rebuilding of the works (clock mechanism). And, the worn parts, levers, pivots, pallets, bushings, etc. need to be polished and readjusted to reduce friction. The mainsprings should be inspected for cracks, rust, and pitting. Proper assembly and testing ensures the clock or watch runs correctly as it was designed. We offer restoration service for most clocks and watches by an American Watch and Clock Institute Certified Clockmaker.

House Call Services

For tall-case clocks (grandfather) or other clocks that are hard to move, we can come to your home or office. Service calls include oiling the mechanism, leveling the case, making sure weights and pendulum are hung properly, making sure chimes sound good, inform customer of clock condition, and instructions on proper operation.

Minor Services

If the clock has been maintained over the years, it may not need a full restoration, but instead minor servicing. This involves inspection, oiling, making minor adjustments, and testing. If the repair history is known, servicing is all that’s needed. If the history is unknown, we can determine what kind of condition it is in & make a service recommendation. Most clocks should be oiled every 3 to 4 years. Eventually the clock will have to be cleaned & rebuilt after 15 years of oiling and minor service.

Clock & Watch Appraisals

When performing an appraisal, we take photographs and measurements, write descriptions, search for timepiece history, and determine the value based on other comparable timepieces.

Watch Repair & Services

We specialize in repairing and servicing Quartz watches. This includes battery installation, band repair, crystal replacement, pressure testing, and reattachment of hands and dots. If needed, we can fully restore most Quartz watches. We do some repair and servicing of mechanical watches. Please call or email for more information.

Packing of Clocks for Moving & Storage

We can come to your home and prepare your tall-case clocks for safer moving or shipping. We can keep you clock in the shop for a period of time while you redo floors or other home improvements.

Beware of Dip Cleaning

Dip cleaning an unassembled clock works is a bad idea. The cleaning solution will get in places where it won’t come out and gum up the works stopping the clock. If the works look so bad as to need cleaning, it will probably need restoration also. Dip cleaning is like trying to clean plates that are stacked up together, it just doesn’t work!

Commitment to Recycling

During servicing, we recycle chemicals, batteries, aluminum, plastic, and glass.
